Orders run a year ahead of the build
This is the first thing that surprises people. Materials are ordered six to twelve months in advance. Stone from a particular batch, made-to-measure joinery, lighting from a limited run, upholstery fabrics — none of it comes off a shelf.
In practice this means decisions about finishes have to be taken while the building is still a shell. Works are scheduled two months ahead and we are on site once a week.
More craft than product
The larger the project, the fewer things are bought and the more are made. Furniture to measure, stone cut for a particular plan, metalwork, joinery fitted into irregular recesses.
Every such element has to be drawn to the millimetre — including where stone meets brass and how a balustrade is fixed. Not for effect. Because a craftsman prices and builds what the drawing gives them; anything it does not give, they will invent.
Several teams working at once
On a large site a dozen trades may be working in parallel. The joiner cannot come before the electrician, the stonemason before the joiner, and the lighting installation waits on both.
That coordination is a job in itself, and it is usually what decides whether the project finishes on time. On commissions of this kind supervision is not an extra — it is part of the structure of the project.
Discretion as part of the service
Some projects never reach the portfolio and never will. A client may want no photographs, no publication and no mention — and that is an arrangement kept without discussion.
It applies to the work as well: to conversations, to documents, and to who is present on site.
What scale does not change
It does not change the starting point. We still begin with a conversation about what an ordinary day looks like — except that this is a day in a house where staff work and guests are announced a week in advance.
Nor does it change the principle that documentation matters more than visualisation. Attractive images cost exactly the same at a large scale as at a small one — and are worth exactly as much on site, which is to say little.

We specialise in interiors above three hundred square metres, and our portfolio is dominated by residences and houses over a thousand. We have designed houses by lakes, by rivers, in the mountains and by the sea, as well as projects near New York and in Spain.
